Anyone else using windows vista?
Until last week I had only heard of the operating system but last week I got offered a state of the art laptop. One empty wallet and 15 minutes later, I proudly plugged it into the wall and ‘booted’ it up.
Now, first impressions were really good – nice shiny screens and a cool log on page. So I clicked on ‘Edna’ (don’t ask me – she was only about 20!!) and logged in. Boot up was quick…and then the annoyance began. You know one of those moments where a huge smile is suddenly ripped from your face? Well this was one of mine.
If you thought XP was annoying enough, believe me, it is nothing compared to vista.
But I had spent all my money buying the laptop and I was stuck with it.
Its like all the programmers at Microsoft sat around a table and this is how the conversation probably went:
“How can we really piss these people off this time?”
“As much as XP?”
“No, that just annoyed them, I mean ‘really’ piss them off.”
“We need to make sure there are plenty of pop ups when they are just doing something important.”
“Excellent!”
“Why don’t we have a woman with the most annoying voice we can think of talking to them as soon as it starts?”
“I like that! Lets do it!”
“But they would need a degree in rocket science to turn it off!”
(All laugh at that one)
“Anything else?”
“An on screen keyboard that pops up when it starts?”
“OK I suppose but they could simply close it.”
“Not if we make it pop up 4 times every time they close it!”
“Excellent.”
(All laugh again)
“We could give them a silly pop up message.”
“Saying what?”
‘Windows has blocked some start up programs’ ?
“Where is the fun in that?”
“It only goes away for 10 minutes then keeps coming back.”
(they all roll around laughing at that one)
“Bill, oh honourable leader, oh mighty one, you haven’t suggested anything yourself yet.”
“Let, me get back on my chair first!”
(Sits back down)
“What about programs?…”
(All look on with interest)
“EVERY TIME they put a disc in to install a program, why don’t we block the program and make them click a screen to accept the install” ?
“Cool!”
“Even better, if it needs to install many files from the disc, we could make it pop up for every one of them!”
“That should do it!”
“Anything else?”
(Silence – so all go off and create said operating system.)
OK microsoft…I don’t need a woman talking to me when it starts…I DO want to install that program…that’s why I went through 3 screens to install it. I don’t need to be informed when you do something I do not need to know about anyway……….. Can’t wait for the next operating system!!
“Now where did I put that Linux disc?”

Tomorrow is one of the days of the year I look forward to - the Monaco Roseball - Also known as March 29th.
Charlotte should be there, I can’t remember her missing a year.
I just hope she is not flying out from Heathrow Airports ‘Terminal 5.’ I wouldn’t hold out much hope for her being there if she was.
2 Billion spent building it and it is only into its 2nd day. Already it is a disaster. Typical British ineptness.
Someone never got luggage on a plane fast enough and a 2 billion state of the art terminal comes to a standstill!!
Lets hope Charlotte is going by private jet.

Below is a new photo (to the site) of Charlotte. It was taken on the 5th February 2008. Charlotte attended the opening of ‘Larry Clark - Los Angeles 2003 - 2006′ held at the Simon Lee Gallery, 17 Berkeley St. London on that date. This photo was taken at a dinner afterwards.
Charlotte is the one with her back to the camera (believe me, it is her).
It is always good to see photos of her but I almost never bothered putting it on the site, I don’t even know why the photographer bothered. I would love to know what the photographer was thinking here. In the age of 10fps cameras it seems he managed to run off one shot with no real focus of attention. One shot of the back of Charlotte Casiraghi, he didn’t even bother going to the other side of the table to take one properly.
I really wish he hadn’t bothered.

The day has not started yet,
It is dark where I lay.
Last night in bed I was poor,
did I just become a Prince?
I lay surrounded by the finest linen in the land,
a king would feel proud laying in such luxury.
I must have left the TV on last night,
It blares out in the distance,
Speaking some depressing words,
a dirge for some poor soul.
I would go turn it off but I’m too tired.
It is hailing outside, it bangs against the roof,
Sounds like thunder and lightning.
I decide to go and look, I love its sight,
But as I sit to do so, but I bang my head!
As I hear low mumbled words of;
“Ashes to ashes, dust to dust” I realise
This is no TV, it’s words above.
I am no prince, it is earth, not thunder!
I fight for air as I realise I am being buried alive.

I am going through a really cool experience with myspace at the moment.
I can no longer access the email account I signed up to myspace with so I am trying to change it. The good thing is myspace knew this might happen and so provided a way for a person to be able to change it. You can’t simply log into myspace and change it as they send a confirmation email to the email you cannot access before you can change it. They provide a page for you to contact them instead. On that page, you provide your current log in email, password and give them your new email, hit ‘send’ and then problem solved…right? Wrong!
They send you a confirmation email that you want to change the email address – guess where they send it to? “Surely the new email address as you cannot access the old one!” You’re probably thinking.
Nope! They send it to the email you cannot access, the one you are trying to change from which is the whole reason for contacting them in the first place! Dumb. They don’t see a problem there?

I have had about 5 emails this week as well as posts on the Guestbook asking me for Charlotte’s Email address.
Ok, then I give in here it is;
doyouthinkiamstupid@idiot.com
There! Now you no longer need to email me that question anymore.
Carl
P.S For those of you that understand the sarcastic side and have not clicked the link to email Charlotte; Even if I did have the address, do you think I would share it!! I would selfishly keep it and email her all to myself. I want to tell her the same things you lot do!!!
